Darren Aronofsky to Direct Elon Musk Biopic for A24

A24 is developing an Elon Musk biopic, with Darren Aronofsky (“Requiem for a Dream,” “Black Swan“) attached to direct. The film is reported to be based on Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography, “Musk.” Isaacson also wrote the book “Steve Jobs,” which became the basis of Danny Boyle’s Oscar-nominated 2015 film, starring Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet.

Musk is probably best known for founding SpaceX in 2002. A few years later he invested in Tesla and eventually became the CEO of the innovative electric automaker. Recently, he purchased Twitter for $44 Billion, after a lot of drama over the acquisition.

Since then the platform has rapidly deprecated as he began to make major changes. Like charging $8 per month for a, formally free, blue checkmark verification. Most recently he unexpectedly rebranded the platform to X, a process that is still going on due to legal disputes.

Musk is an outspoken public figure who often uses social media to further the reach of whatever point he feels like making. His demeanor and choices while running X have chased off several high-profile celebrities like Trent Reznor, Jack White, and Elton John. But this temperament has also garnered him a ravenous fan base.

He is also currently being sued by his ex-partner, Canadian musician Grimes, over custody of their three children, X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus.

This biopic will be Aronofsky’s second consecutive film with A24 after 2022’s “The Whale,” starring Brendan Fraser. Aronofsky is known for his surrealist directorial style so seeing him portray Musk’s sometimes seemingly erratic behavior should make for an interesting film.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about A24’s Elon Musk biopic as they become available.
