Daniel Radcliffe‘s upcoming documentary “David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived” had it’s first trailer drop. The documentary is about Radcliffe’s long-time “Harry Potter” stunt double, David Holmes, who was tragically paralyzed on set. The trailer gives us insight to how the documentary will play out. We have to say this one will be a heartwarming tear-jerker.

Holmes began working as Radcliffe’s stunt double in 2001 for “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” His work would continue up to an accident on the set of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.” The accident would unfortunately leave Holmes paralyzed from the chest down. This documentary, executive produced by Radcliffe, is going to shed light on Holmes time as a stunt double and after the accident. It will also show the bond between Radcliffe and Holmes.

“Being a stuntman is the best job in the world,” Holmes is heard saying in voice over. That sentence is accompanied with behind the scenes footage of Holmes’ stunt work during “Goblet of Fire.” As the trailer goes on, we are treated to shots of Holmes as a child training as a gymnast. Holmes always knew he was going to be a stuntman. He even claimed he got the “best job in the world” as Radcliffe’s stunt double. There are interviews from Holmes’ family and closest friends, including Radcliffe.

“I remember straight after breaking my neck, I said, ‘There’s no chance of coming back,'” Holmes says in an interview clip. It is shortly followed by Radcliffe saying, “It is unfair. He shouldn’t have had to do any of that.” While after the accident was a dark time for Holmes, he eventually found the light. We can’t wait to see more of this documentary.

“David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived” will be premiering on HBO and streaming on MAX on November 15th, 2023. Check out the official trailer now.
