Damoda, the Chinese light show company, used 1,500 drones to create a flying dragon during the Shenzhen Dragon Boat Festival. The show consisted of the devices being used to create other fantastic images in the night sky. The festival took place on June 22nd, 2023 as it is one of the four top traditional Chinese festivals.

Damoda is a company on the rise, manufacturing both indoor and outdoor drones. Indoor devices are capable of withstanding a wind resistance of 4 meters per second. The devices have a hover endurance of 10 minutes, with 6 dedicated to show time. Outdoor devices are capable of withstanding a windspeed of 7 meters per second. Both products are made of lightweight materials and can operate in most climates.

The Dragon Boat Festival is a Chinese holiday that traditionally falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It can fall between late May, or June. The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated to commemorate the death of famous Chinese poet and minister, Qu Yuan. The holiday is celebrated with dragon boat races, eating sticky rice dumplings, hanging Chinese Mugwort and Calamus, drinking wine, and wearing perfume pouches. Sticky rice dumplings, thin pancakes, and eggs steamed with tea can be found all over the festival.

Drone light shows are quickly becoming a popular alternative to fireworks shows. They are better for the environment as they do not pose a risk for wildfires to break out. Provided the controller knows how to operate the drones, the shows can be quite exciting.
