Two iconic Monster Jam monster trucks were engulfed in flames after a crash on California’s Highway 50. While passing through Sacramento on August 30th, the trailer carrying the vehicles caught fire in the eastbound lanes. Fire officials confirmed the driver was able to release the tractor from the trailer before it to could be engulfed in flames.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) closed down the area for three hours, allowing tow trucks to remove the trailer and damaged trucks. Luckily there were no injuries, the two damaged trucks were Megalodon and Scooby-Doo. The trucks were on their way to maintenance work before the upcoming Monster Jam show in San Jose. CHP was contacted about the incident around 8:30 Tuesday morning. Officials speculated that both trucks would potentially be worth $1 million.

Hopefully they don’t mean that’s how much it will cost to repair the trucks. Monster Jam holds events worldwide and these trucks are beloved by fans. It will surely be disappointing for the two trucks to be out of commission. However, looking on the bright side it’ll be even better to see the trucks fully repaired.

Jeremy Squires with CHP mentioned that because the cargo was so large, it made clearing the scene easier. Despite the damage, Feld Entertainment (parent company of Monster Jam) is expecting a full lineup for the upcoming event in San Jose.

Tickets for the September 1st through 3rd event at the SAP Center in San Jose are available here.
