Filmmaker Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Netflix series “The Fall of the House of Usher” has been given first look images and a fall release date. Because a show based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe premiering in October is just *chef’s kiss*.
Flanagan created the eight-episode limited series based on the short story by Poe. He also directed the first four episodes, with Michael Fimognari directing the other four.

“The Fall of the House of Usher” follows the Usher siblings Roderick (Bruce Greenwood) and Madeline (Mary McDonnell). The duo has built an empire out of the company Fortunato Pharmaceuticals, granting them all the wealth, privilege, and power they could ever want. That is until past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.
The cast also includes Carla Gugino, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney, and Robert Longstreet.

“It’s batshit crazy in the best possible way,” Gugino said of the project. “It has quite a lot of very dark humor, but also really touches the soul. There is a fantastical supernatural element to the story, and [Verna] is the manifestation of that. You could say she’s the executor of fate or the executor of karma.”
“The Fall of the House of Usher” hits Netflix on October 12th, 2023. You can check out the rest of the first-look images below:
