Fast Food Giant McDonald’s to Start Catering Weddings

Imagine your big wedding day is coming up, and you’re starting to plan for it. There’s so much to sort out, so much to contend with. The location, guest list, the music, and of course, the food. What are you going to be able to do that will keep dozens of people happy with something they would want to eat, but could also be affordable enough to help you make that wedding budget work? Then, from somewhere off in the distance, maybe actually in the corner of your mind, you hear a sound. Five notes. “Ba da ba ba bah!”

That’s right, good old McDonald’s is coming potentially to a wedding near you; as long as you’re in Indonesia. As ridiculous as it may seem, the fast food giant is entering into the business of wedding catering with one of the most bizarrely simple menus that you could possibly come up with. The McDonald’s catering package currently consists of 100 chicken sandwiches, (presumably McChicken’s, but who knows, maybe they’ll break out the good Crispy Chicken) and 100 packages of 4-piece chicken nuggets. There is currently no word on if that includes any dipping sauces.

Given how limited the options are in terms of food items and locations, one can assume this is something of a trial run before potentially expanding. That or it could easily be something of a novelty that really has no intention of going anywhere. What I can say though is that Indonesia does have a thing for chicken restaurants. And I know this because it’s one of the few locations in the world that still has locations open for the Kenny Rogers Roasters restaurants. The chain went belly-up through most of the world except mostly Malaysia and Indonesia; so maybe a fast food chicken based wedding menu would go over well there!

More problematic is the idea that one chicken sandwich and a 4-piece package of McNugget’s is going to make anyone feel full. I can’t speak for everybody, but I could down at least three McChicken’s and a 20-piece box of nuggets and still have room for a McFlurry and two of those apple pies. What do you want me to do with this catering menu? Are we expecting a hundred children? Unless those nuggets are the size of the Hamburgler’s head, we’ve got ourselves a problem.

Anyway, should this wedding catering work out for this scrappy young business maybe they can make it big and make a name for themselves! I personally see big things for this McDonald’s company; you haven’t heard the last of them. [This is sarcasm, okay?]
