Sadly, one of the homes built for Tim Burton’s 2003 fantasy drama “Big Fish” has burnt down. For the film, several homes were erected to create the fictitious town of Spectre. This is the quant place Edward Bloom (Ewan McGregor) stumbles upon within a haunted forest. When he returns years later, he finds Spectre has fallen into despair, and must be helped.

After filming for “Big Fish” was completed, the town was abandoned on Jackson Lake Island, a private island located in Elmore County, Alabama. It was later renovated, shoe line and all, as a tourist attraction. In 2015, it was purchased by Bobby Bright, a former Montgomery Mayor, and retired Judge Lynn Bright.
Currently, the 60-acre Town of Spectre is only inhabited by a community of goats. On July 2nd, the Jackson Lake Island Facebook page made the announcement that one of the homes burned down.

“We lost a house in the Town of Spectre tonight after a lightning strike,” the post reads. “All the goats were safely under the church. Thank you Millbrook Fire Department.”
But it seems that aside from losing the one home the rest of the buildings were unscathed. “It’s the morning after losing one of our houses in Spectre to fire,” a follow-up post reads. “The remainder of the town is fine, and we will be open every day as usual.”
