Filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg will direct at least one episode of “Stranger Things” upcoming fifth and final season. Trachtenberg’s credits include the films “10 Cloverfield Lane” and the “Predator” reboot, “Prey.” He also helmed as the pilot for “The Boys” and the “Black Mirror” episode, “Playtest.”
So we think it’s safe to say nostalgia-drenched 80s aesthetics and pop culture references are well within his wheelhouse.

This news comes hot on the heels of the streamer announcing Linda Hamilton (“Terminator”) would be joining the cast. Hamilton is just the latest 80s icon to join the show alongside Winona Ryder, Matthew Modine, Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, Cary Elwes, and Robert Englund. Her role is still being kept under wraps, like basically everything else about the final season. But we bet she will be playing a badass, as is her custom.
Even though the 5th and final season was greenlit back in February 2022it has no release date. Production is currently at a standstill due to the ongoing WGA strike. “Stranger Things” creators the Duffer Brothers confirmed in May that they would stand in solidarity with the strike. Despite having already written some of the upcoming season.

“We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out. #wgastrong” they wrote in an announcement.
Even with the series coming to a close fans won’t be completely cut off from the Upsidedown. Netflix has already announced a “Stranger Things” animated show to keep the universe going.
“We’ve always dreamed of an animated ‘Stranger Things’ in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling,” the Duffer brothers said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”
We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
