While we have some decidedly mixed opinions about Amazon Prime Video’s “Wheel of Time” series, we’re pretty excited for what’s to come in season 2. Namely, characters WE SHOULD HAVE MET ALREADY are finally making their debut. You know, like the Daughter-Heir of Andor, Elayne Trakand, who will be played by Ceara Coveney.
We still don’t know who has been cast to play Queen of Andor Morgase Trakand, Elayne’s mother. There’s also Gawyn Trakand, Elayne’s brother, and Galad Damodred, Elayne’s half-brother. All of whom we should have met already, as they appear in book 1.

ALSO, some very important Aiel Maidens of the Spear- Bain (Ragga Ragnars), Aviendha (Ayoola Smart), and Chiad (Maja Simonsen). Think of the Aiel as something akin to the Fedykin Fremen from “Dune;” warriors and spiritualists honor bound by traditions and strict moral codes. We’ll be spending a lot of time (like, 5 books-worth) with the Aiel in the Wastes.

And, another character we should have met already- Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan. We don’t know who’s playing the Red Ajah sister, but we do have a pretty good idea. (*cough* Shohreh Aghdashloo *cough*)
“Well I mean, one character that I love and am very excited to see come to screen is the character of Elaida,” showrunner Rafe Judkins said in a new promo video. “She’s incredibly complex in the books. You think, she’s a Darkfriend- she’s not a Darkfriend. And that makes her all the more interesting for the antagonistic role that she plays…I think that she’s a fascinating character and she really shows why all the characters in this world have such depth, and they all have their own drives that end up driving the plot in the story.”
Other notable characters we’ll see in season 2 include Meera Syal as Verin Mathwin,
Rima Te Wiata as Sheriam Bayanar (Mistress of Novices at the White Tower), and Jay Duffy as Whitecloak Dain Bornhald. Guy Roberts will appear as Uno Nomesta (yay!), Arnas Fedaravicius as Masema (boo!), and Gregg Chillingirian as Ingtar Shinowa (yay again!). Natasha O’Keeffe and Laia Costa has also been added to the show, but in unknown roles.
It’s not the best video quality…seriously Prime, how do you release THIS in 480p?
We do not have a release date for “Wheel of Time” season 2 yet. Season 1 is available to stream now.
