Linda Hamilton Joins Final Season of “Stranger Things”

Actress Linda Hamilton is joining the cast of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” for its 5th and final season. The streamer made the announcement during a fan event in São Paulo, Brazil. There are currently no details on what role Hamilton will be playing.

Though she does fit in perfectly with the 1980s nostalgia-drenched theme of “Stranger Things.” Since she is probably best known for playing Sarah Connor in “The Terminator” franchise, which absolutely dominated 80s pop culture. And it’s a role she recently revived for 2019’s “Terminator: Dark Fate.” She was also nominated for an Emmy and two Golden Globe awards for the CBS series “Beauty and the Beast.” Another pop culture phenomenon that ran from 1987 until 1990. While she has still stayed relevant, there is no denying that her influence is all over that decade.

As for overall “Stanger Things” season 5 news everything is, as per usual, very hush-hush. One of the few bread crumbs we do have is series creators the Duffer Brothers teasing that the first episode will be titled “The Crawl.” With season 4 ending on a huge cliffhanger, it’s really anyone’s guess on how the series will end.

The Duffer Brothers have said they “wanted an Empire Strikes Back style ending” for the second to last season. “The bad guy wins. Friends (heroes) die, or are badly wounded. We felt this led to some incredibly devastating performances from our cast, as they come face to face with death and loss, a feeling which will cast a dark cloud over the final season.”

So does that mean season 5 will be like “Return of the Jedi?” Will we get Ewoks?!

Due to the ongoing WGA strike, it is unclear when the final season will hit Netflix. While all the scripts have already been written, most productions don’t want to risk not having a writer on set. Having writers doing often necessary things like revisions would break strike rules. The “Stranger Things” crew has already pushed back their August 2nd production start date with no word on a new one being set. Odds are they are waiting for the strike to resolve so they can have all hands on deck to make the best series finale possible.

Seasons 1-4 of “Stranger Things” are currently available to stream on Netflix. We’ll let you know what we hear about season 5.
