We all know the value of road safety. We’re often told to look both ways and then look again to avoid missing a passing cyclist or motorcyclist. Unfortunately, the presence of phones and other distractions have made accidents more common. And the lack of attention has claimed a tragic victim. Treat Williams, famous for his roles in “Everwood” and “Hair” and many other films and series, has died following a collision with a car while on his motorbike.

Williams’ agent of 15 years Barry McPherson, confirmed his death. “He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off,” McPherson said. “I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.”

“He was an actor’s actor. Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of the Hollywood since the late 1970s,” McPherson continued. “He was really proud of his performance this year. He’s been so happy with the work that I got him. He’s had a balanced career.”

According to the fire chief for Dorset, Vermont, Jacob Gribble, the incident only involved a single car and Williams’ motorcycle. So far it’s believed that the driver was turning and simply didn’t see William’s bike. Williams was the only casualty of the accident. And while he was airlifted to the hospital as soon as possible, it wasn’t enough to save him.

Williams made his film debut in 1975 starring in “Deadly Hero.” His career reached a significant high point starring in 1979’s film of “Hair,” based on the Broadway musical. Since then, Williams had gone on to star in “Everwood” and so many other titles. Williams was 71.
