Who knew Angry Birds was still a thing. Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Kids+ have announced a new animated series, “Angry Birds Mystery Island.” The series is created by Titmouse and Eric Rogers (“Futurama”) who will be acting as head writer, showrunner, and executive producer. The voice cast includes Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”), Kate Micucci (“Scooby-Doo!”), Dominic Monaghan (“The Lord of the Rings”), and Nasim Pedrad (“Saturday Night Live”).

“Working with such a dream team and cast has been the highlight of my career,” Rogers said of the news. “Together, we are hatching a series full of comedy, heart, and binge-worthy mystery, filled with laugh-out-loud moments.”

“Angry Birds Mystery Island” will introduce us to three new hatchlings Mia, Rosie, and Buddy. They will also be joined by a foreign-exchange piglet, punnily named, Hamylton. The rambunctious tweens unexpectedly receive an all-expenses-paid island getaway. But their trip turns sour when they are mistakenly catapulted on to an uncharted island. The group is now left to explore all the exotic sights and unexplained phenomena that the island has to offer. Without any adults around to help, the pre-teens must band together to unlock the mysteries of the island. Which will help them survive long enough to try to get back home.

The new series “promises lots of fun, mystery, and adventure with irreverent humor and pop culture references.” All while being set in the universe of the popular video game “Angry Birds.”

“The Angry Birds captivated people of all ages and became a global phenomenon with the debut of their first game, and their cultural presence has remained steadfast,” Melissa Wolfe, Head of Animation at Amazon Studios, said. “We are excited by the opportunity to expand the Hatchlings’ world into a family series for our global customers to enjoy even more stories around these beloved birds.”

“It’s exciting to expand the Angry Birds universe with endearing new characters and multilayered storytelling that speaks equally to kids and kids at heart,” Veronica Pickett, head of Original Series at Amazon Kids+, said.

The first season is 24-episodes and will premiere on both Prime Video and Amazon Kids+. There is no release date set for “Angry Birds Mystery Island,” yet. But we’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as they become available.
