The classic game Twister is getting a digital update! Toymaker Hasbro has announced that their new game, Twister Air, will replace the traditional mat with an augmented reality app.

Twister Air uses wearable colored wristbands and uses the camera on your phone or tablet to track movements. As players are instructed to match their wrist and ankle bands with colored spots on the screen. Gone are the days of trying to fold yourself in a pretzel on the floor!

“For over 55 years, Twister has been a household name thanks to the iconic polka-dotted mat that puts you, family, and friends in unusual positions and hysterical situations,” said Adam Biehl, SVP & General Manager, Hasbro Gaming. “This new version of Twister will implement augmented reality technology to bring classic Twister gameplay that originated in the 1960s to modern-day and will surely give players of all ages an exciting new, music-inspired experience to make memories from.”

The game now asks players to reach, clap, swipe, or pose to earn points. It also has 16 different songs that can be played during the game. Which includes the new, original song “Twist in the Air,” which is currently available on major streaming platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, and TikTok.

But you can also play the game on your television by using AirPlay for iOS devices or Chromecast for Android.

Recommended for ages 8 and up this new twist on a classic is sure to be fun for the whole family. Twister Air is currently offering preorders on Amazon. It will hit the shelves at most major retail stores on August 1st.
