In 2005, action hero Jackie Chan starred in the martial arts fantasy-adventure film “The Myth.” Over a decade later, he will star in its sequel, “A Legend.” Director Stanley Tong, who is a longtime collaborator of Chan’s, will also be returning.

“A Legend” will have Chan reprise his role as archaeology expert Professor Chen. During a glacier expedition, one of Chen’s pupils finds an artifact that bares a striking resemblance to a jade pendant he had seen in his dreams. The professor comes to believe that the pendant is acting as a bridge between the world of dreams and reality. So he leads his research team on a  fantastical adventure deep into the Glacier Temple.

The film will make its market debut at Cannes International Film Festival with the Taiwan-based Distribution Workshop handling worldwide sales. “A Legend” will be produced by Bona Film Group, with a budget of $50 million, which is rather large for the Chinese film industry. The movie will also co-star Yixing Zhang (“Kung Fu Yoga”) and Coulee Nazha (“Police Story: Lockdown”).

Even with Chan pushing 70, he doesn’t seem to be slowing down on stunt-heavy roles. Earlier this year he starred in the action comedy “Ride On,” directed by Larry Yang. Where Chan plays a washed-up stuntman who inadvertently goes viral. So far it has pulled in over $30 million in China and roughly $5 million from other international territories.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about  “A Legend,” as they become available. You can check out a trailer for “Ride Along” below:
