Horror icon Bruce Campbell (“The Evil Dead”) has joined the cast of the upcoming Peacock series “Hysteria!” He will be joining the previously announced cast members Anna Camp, Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, Nikki Hahn, and Julie Bowen.

Set during the late 1980s wave of the satanic panic, “Hysteria!” is a drama about the disappearance of a beloved varsity quarterback. A struggling heavy metal band of high school outcasts realizes they can capitalize on the town’s sudden fascination with the occult. So they start building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, to further push the chaos. That is, until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported ‘supernatural activity’ start to happen. Events that trigger a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to the band.
Campbell will play the reoccurring role of Chief Dandridge, a small-town police chief. His understanding of his community will be put to the test after a disturbing series of murders, disappearances, and unexplained phenomena begin to occur. It seems that even small towns have their secrets.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts is set to direct and executive produce the first episode of “Hysteria!” The series is written and executive produced by Matthew Scott Kane and David Goodman. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will also be executive producing. Along with Chris Bender and Jake Weiner for Good Fear Content. Scott Stoops will be acting as supervising producer for Good Fear. The series is being produced by UCP, a division of Universal’s Studio Group.
There is still no word on a release date for “Hysteria!”. But we will keep you posted on updates as they develop. If you can’t wait for more Campbell, he just produced the new film “Evil Dead Rise.” Where he makes an incredibly brief appearance. So brief in fact, that director Lee Cronin said he’d pay the first person to spot Campbell $50.
