Cat Lost in Vegas Hotel Room for Days Before Anyone Noticed

The slogan “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” really shouldn’t apply to pets. Lindsey Sanders and her husband were staying at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Three days into their stay, they heard strange noises around 4am. They soon realized the noises were made by a cat that seemingly just appeared in their hotel room.

“The third night, I heard some weird sounds,” Sanders said about the incident. “I thought it was in the hallway.” So she asked her husband to investigate. “I was like, oh, you know, maybe you should go check it out and see if you see anything. So he got up, and he turned on his light, and he goes, ‘There’s a cat in here.’”

Lo and behold, a cat was standing in the middle of their room. Fortunately, the couple are both veterinarians who were in town for a conference. They confirmed the feline seemed friendly (and was fixed), which ruled out the possibility it was a feral cat that somehow snuck in.

They called hotel security about the mysterious cat, to which one officer reportedly responded,  “Only in Vegas.” Security showed up with a leash for the cat, which Sander quickly pointed out wouldn’t work. While everyone tried to figure out what to put the cat in, it was able to escape into the room and hide again. They figured out the frightened little thing had been squeezing itself into a space about three inches tall under the bathroom sink. Security even had to take part of the cabinet apart to get the animal back out.

Once the cat was back out, they placed it into a pillow case, and took it downstairs to a large animal create the hotel has.

Later it was revealed that the previous guest in that room lost their cat during a stay while they were moving from Reno to Las Vegas. The frightened animal had been there for six days, three of which while the room was still occupied by strangers. The pet was in good heath despite not eating for all that time. Apparently, it was drinking water from the toilet, which the owners confirmed it will do at home.

The discovery of the cat also solved some mysteries the Sanders had been having. They noticed a few items that were knocked off the bathroom counter. Then what appeared to be pee on the floor of the shower. The cat was reunited with its owners about an hour after it was discovered.

Sanders documented the whole thing on TikTok, the video already has over 1 million views. Check it out below:
