The Asylum Confirms “Attack of the Meth Gator” Film Coming

Horror movies about drug-addled animals going on rampages is seriously having a moment right now. And where there is a trend, you know the good folks at The Asylum Studios will be close behind. They intend to expand the animals on drugs universe with their new film “Attack of the Meth Gator,” an obvious mockbuster for the new horror comedy “Cocaine Bear.”

“Hold our bear… I mean, beer. Coming for your life this summer,” the official announcement reads. This was written alongside poster art that reminds us of “Alligator II: The Mutation,” which we all know is the superior “Alligator” movie. In a subtweet, The Asylum even assures fans that the poster art and concept for “Attack of the Meth Gator” is real, and that they are pumping meth into the Florida waterways as we speak. Oh, and they also claim it’ll also be a documentary.

Sassy social media responses aside, we have no doubt that the  “Attack of the Meth Gator” announcement is legitimate. This is the same studio that has brought us mockbusters like “Snakes on a Train,” “Atlantic Rim,” “Aquarium of the Dead,” and a seemingly endless string of “Sharknado” movies. The Asylum is basically known for its lower-budget knockoffs of wildly successful films. And a film like this is 100% on brand for the studio and its sense of humor.

Considering “Cocaine Bear” director Elizabeth Banks may be on board for a “Cocaine Shark” sequel, them hopping on this trend was only a matter of time. While we know nothing of the plot details we can assume the film will be about an alligator going on a rampage after taking a lot of meth. But unlike “Cocaine Bear” and possibly “Cocaine Shark,” this won’t be based on a true story… yet.

“Attack of the Meth Gator” will be available sometime this summer. We’ll keep you posted on any updates as they unfold.
