After some hiccups, the tv series adaption of the “Something Is Killing The Children” comic books is back underway at Netflix. Originally, Mike Flanagan (“Midnight Mass”) was attached to direct, but had to drop, presumably to focus on “The Dark Tower.” Netflix will once again be tapping the talents of German writers and showrunners Baran bo Odar and Jantje Fries to take over. The duo has worked with the streamer previously on the shows “Dark” and “1899.”

This new project will be part of a much larger eight-figure deal between the Netflix, Odar, and Fries.

“Something Is Killing The Children” is a popular comic series from Boom! Studios written by James Tynion IV. Tynion has also worked on DC Comics’ “Batman,” and other series like “The Nice House on the Lake.”

The series revolves around the children of Archer’s Peak and the alarming fact that they keep going missing. Most of these children never return, but the ones that do, have terrible stories of terrifying creatures that live in the shadows. A glimmer of hope arrives when a mysterious stranger named Erica Slaughter comes to town. Not only does she believe the children, she also claims to see the same horrible things that they see. Fortunately, it just so happens that Slaughter kills monsters.

The “Something Is Killing The Children” series has nearly tripled its sales since it launched in 2019. It has also been a critical success garnering several awards including back-to-back Eisner Awards for writing by Tynion in 2021 and 2022, and another Eisner in 2022 for “Best Continuing Series.” It became so popular they even launched a spinoff in 2021 called, “House of Slaughter” that focuses on the order that created the monster hunters.

We will keep you updated on news about the  “Something Is Killing The Children” series adaptation as it unfolds.
