Katsucon Attendee Cosplays as CVS-Chan, a CVS Receipt

Washington D.C.’s Katsucon anime fan convention just took place, February 17th-19th. And like any Monday after a convention, social media is a buzz with cool outfits and cosplays. While we are sure there are plenty of creative clothes from the convention, everyone seems here for a CVS receipt dress with Cathedral-length train.

Deemed “CVS-Chan” by its creator Ashentrees, she strolled the convention halls bravely rocking a 40 FOOT-LONG WHITE train on her dress. Making her possibly the bravest woman at any convention, ever. Ash custom-designed the printed cotton fabric to look exactly like a giant receipt from the drugstore chain.

This long train was then attached to a high low-cut style white top emblazoned with the CVS logo on the chest. All on top of some red shoes and comfortable-looking leggings, also covered in the CVS logo. But as any fashion-forward con attendee knows, it’s all about how you accessorize.

Ash topped off her lovely ensemble with a CVS logo on her white facemask. As well as a plastic bag from the store itself, helpful for hauling both con swag and snacks. Videos of the CVS-Chan cosplay in all of its glory are already starting to make the rounds on social media. So far the reactions have fluctuated between sheer awe and laughter.

But this is certainly not the first time someone has poked fun at the retailer’s notoriously long receipts. They achieved meme status years ago and many other creators using them to do random everyday tasks. For example, one person used them to fix the blinds in their room. Others have made outfits out of the receipt paper itself. One company made snazzy scarfs printed to look like them. And even more, have turned the overly long strips of printed paper into Halloween costumes.

But it’s safe to say Ash’s creation is much more flattering than the previous costume adaptations. Though to be fair, one long strip of reenforced fabric isn’t going to look great on pretty much anyone. We look forward to what her and other cosplayers will come up with next! Check out this TikTok of CVS-Chan in action below:
