Premium cable network STARZ has just announced the development of a new series that will dive deep into the world of the iconic and groundbreaking show “Spartacus.” The original series was a massive success, with four seasons airing on the network and captivating audiences with its thrilling storylines and compelling characters.

The upcoming series will explore new and uncharted territories with the return of some of the original show’s most beloved characters. Steven S. DeKnight, the creator, writer, and executive producer of the original series, will be returning as showrunner and executive producer.

According to STARZ, the new series will take place after the defeat of Spartacus and his rebel army, and will showcase a new tale of treachery, deceit, and bloodshed set beneath the ominous shadow of Rome. “It has been over a decade since ‘Spartacus‘ first captivated audiences, and we are thrilled to bring this gripping and action-packed drama back to our viewers today,” President of Original Programming for STARZ Kathryn Busby said.

“Together we are creating something truly unique and unusual for the next chapter in this epic story,” DeKnight said, expressing his excitement about returning to the world of “Spartacus” with the support of STARZ and Lionsgate.

The new series will be produced by Lionsgate Television for STARZ, with Karen Bailey serving as Executive Vice President of Original Programming, and Giovanna Desselle and Alex Alberts serving as Directors of Original Programming. On behalf of Lionsgate Television, Scott Herbst and Jocelyn Sabo will oversee the project as Head of Scripted Development and Senior Vice President of Scripted Development, respectively.

With this revival, STARZ continues its trend of developing successful franchises, including several shows set in the “Power” universe and the upcoming revival of “Party Down.” It will be interesting to see how the new series develops and if it can live up to the legacy of its predecessor.

We’ll let you know what we hear about casting and possible release dates.
