Sorry Haters: “She-Hulk” *IS* Most Comic Accurate Show

Writer Dan Slott wants to clear up a big problem haters of Marvel Studios‘ live-action “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” series seem to have. Namely, the accuracy of the television show vs. the source comics. The conversation has been going for months, which led to Slott addressing ‘fan’ claims of “inaccuracies.”

If you don’t know who Dan Slott is, he wrote the 2004-2007 run of Marvel Comics‘ “She-Hulk.” He currently holds the record for having written the most issues of character. As a head writer during what is considered a high point of the character’s history, he has the credentials to know what makes Jen Walters the most like Jen Walters.

She-Hulk has always had a comedic, fourth wall-breaking spirit of She-Hulk ever since John Byrne started writing for the character in the 1980s. While Slott didn’t lean into the self awareness in the same way, he still kept a free-wheeling energy to the title, while keeping the character modern. The influence Slott had on the continuing legacy of the character has lasted well into the present day. Which makes it safe to say that he knows exactly how “comic accurate” the show is.

He’s pretty much the authority on it.

Anyone saying the @SheHulkOfficial TV show wasn't "comic book accurate"…

I'm the guy who has written more issues of SHE-HULK than anyone.

I've read every single comic from every #SheHulk run.

And I'm saying, for the record, it is the MOST comic book accurate show in the MCU. pic.twitter.com/d1LGOrkve9

After posting this, literally got a post starting out:

"No one’s saying the show isn’t comic accurate pal…"

Love the goal post moving, cause the whole "the show isn't comic accurate" talking point has been going on for MONTHS. From people who clearly have never read SHE-HULK.

Other Twitter users argued what Slott confirmed “wasn’t the point.” One user said they disconnected with the show because it “vilified men at every single chance they got.” Slott pointed out Pug, Wong, Luke, Bruce, Matt, Ched, and Jen’s dad were also in the series.

Did these complainers miss the point of the show entirely? There is even a support group of men who recognized that they could be better if they tried!

“There were way more supportive and good men in the show than creeps,” Slott said. “The only characters that were vilified…were the villains.”

    Disney+

Sure, maybe these folks didn’t like the show for other reasons. It’s not for everyone. The silly moments, the fourth wall break, and even Daredevil’s stride of pride have been points of complaint. But, if THIS is the hill you are choosing to die on, remember She-Hulk has always satirized how seriously comic books take themselves.

“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” is currently streaming on Disney+.
