The iconic Hollywood Forever Cemetery’s Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration returns this year! Formerly known as the Hollywood Memorial Park, the cemetery was founded in 1988. It is the resting place of some of Hollywood’s most prolific stars.

Festivities will be plentiful, and open to early-to-beds as well as night owls. Day of the Dead celebrations will begin at 9am and end at 3pm. All manner of fun including a children’s plaza and traditional festivities will take place. Altars, art exhibitions, as well as craft and food vendors will decorate the cemetery to celebrate. Come and share one of Mexican culture’s most important days.

If you’re looking for some night time fun, feel free to attend Noches de lost Muertos. Starting at 5pm and heading into the wee hours of midnight, visitors can find much of the same the day offers. Cultural dances and performances and exhibitions. Both events will have a Cathedral Art Exhibition for attendees to enjoy.

This year boasts an art gallery called the Avenida de los Artistas, which features the works of ten exemplary artists curated by Luis Villanueva. Sabino Guisu‘s work (@sabinoguisu), including his Zapotec Death Poems, will be on display. Playing with the themes of chance and death and integrating the patterns of Mexican pyramids, Guisu’s work is something you won’t want to miss out on.

Tickets are on sale here, and range from $55 – $250. The events are open to all ages, and an entire list of festivities can be found here. The Cemetery is located on 6000 Santa Monica Blvd., in Los Angeles.
