Fox’s long-running animated TV show “The Simpsons” will feature a crossover with another Fox cartoon, “Bob’s Burgers.” Treehouse of Horror has become a fall staple since it’s first airing during “The Simpsons” season 2, episode 3 in 1990. These particular episodes break away from the show’s typical narrative format and are told as anthologies. These often spookify the show’s opening sequences with horror imagery and altered credits for the show creators. For example writer, James L. Brooks’ name becomes the more menacing James “Hell” Brooks. Series creator Matthew Groening’s name becomes a playfully creepy Bat Groening for one glorious episode each year.

John Roberts, who voices Linda on “Bob’s Burgers,” confirmed the crossover via Twitter.
Originally these episodes spoofed horror classics like Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” and Orson Welles‘ radio broadcast of “The War of the Worlds”. Eventually turning an eye to more modern properties like the horror movies “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” “The Fly,” and “Paranormal Activity.” Recently treehouse episodes have become more of a free-for-all to spoof anything in the realm of pop culture. They have taken on things like the action movie “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” or the popular “Twilight” teen romance novels/films.
“The Simpsons” are also no stranger to crossovers either. Characters from other hit Fox shows like “Futurama” and “The Critic” have appeared on the dysfunctional family sitcom. And the Simpson family visited the fictional Quahog, R.I on “The Family Guy.” But the Belcher family on “Bob’s Burgers” have left their own universe before. The show famously did a crossover with FX’s animated spy comedy “Archer” for one episode. Mostly playing off the joke that H. Jon Benjamin voices both the titular characters Sterling Archer and Bob Belcher.

Currently, only Linda Belcher is confirmed to be making an appearance in Springfield, but she has never been one to leave family behind. So who knows who may join her? “The Simpsons” Treehouse of Horror XXXIII will debut on Sunday, October 30th on Fox.
