Cake-N-Bake: Great Game for Neurodivergent Kids

When it comes to games there are some that really take the cake. Pun intended on that one. Today we’ll be reviewing Cake-N-Bake which is a game created by Hey Buddy Hey Pal where the “fastest baker wins!” This game was a complimentary product that I received in order to review.

    The game is described as:

Complete with colorful, textured foam cake slices, icing cards with toppings ranging from multi-colored candies and gummy pandas to strawberries and the classic rainbow sprinkles, the pressure is on to stack your cake correctly! Watch out for those Special Action Cards because they can be a recipe for disaster, like the One-Hand Card where you can only use one hand to bake, or the Burnt Cake Card where you miss a turn! Look for the Mystery Cake Card because you can build almost any cake you want and speed to the buzzer.

    Multiple Ways to Play

Because you can vary the game play so much it keeps the kids interested. Too easy using two hands? Try using one! Heck use your feet if you want to! You can play by selecting one card and making a cake to match, determining the winner by who’s the fastest. Or you can involve the special action cards where you may end up with a burnt cake. It’s a little bit fast and crazy, but it’s all very fun!

    Sensory Fun

One of my favorite ways to play the game was to try and memorize the shapes and textures on the colors of the cake. I did it blindfolded and even when I thought I must have the cake right, I got it wrong! The kids were much better at remembering how the pieces felt. When it was my turn I had my daughter read me out which colors went on where, and I would try to feel around for the right color/texture. When it was her turn I’d do the same.

    Educational

What’s even neater is that for the icing pieces we used directional terms like left and right, or above and below and that also helped her with some of her vocabulary words for the week. So you can absolutely implement some teaching elements in this as well if you’re a home school parent. Or just do it because you want to!

    Available to Pre-Order Now!

Cake-N-Bake is available to pre-order from Hey Buddy Hey Pal’s website. They are going to start shipping these out in November on the 1st. So if you wanted to get this for your kids for Christmas it would be there just in time!
