Become a Bond Villain with WWI Island Fortress, Only £50,000!

Looking for a new place to live? Tired of the hustle and bustle of the city? Want to capture those ocean-front views but avoid nosy neighbors, throngs of beach-combers, or any human contact whatsoever? Well then has Rightmove got the house for you.

The UK-based real estate service, which operates similar to Zillow, has listed a World War I sea fort off the coast of Hull and it’s surprisingly affordable. Perfect for recreating those after school sessions of “Goldeneye” on the N64, the sprawling fort includes 3 floors with basement and magazine below sea level, and central 2-story observation tower, all for only £50,000.

Following the outbreak of World War I, the fort was originally constructed as a strategic outpost to be used off the coast of England but was not completed until 1919. If you like having people over, you can comfortably invite just about everyone you know since it comfortably sleeps 200. And if you don’t like having people over, it is reinforced by concrete and its seaward side is fitted out with 12-inches of armor designed to withstand gunfire from heavy naval units. So it should be able to withstand any incursions from solicitors, door to door salespeople, or any U-boats that are still kicking around.

Buyer beware: the listing does note that the fort is “in need of refurbishment throughout,” so the low price tag might not clue you in to all the extra work that comes along with it. We’re not sure what the standard refurbishment rate is on decommissioned military forts, but it’s probably not cheap. There’s a reason Bond villains are always trying to steal more money.
