Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”) and Billy Bryk (“When You Finish Saving the World”) will be writing and directing a horror comedy together! While plot details for “Hell of a Summer” are being kept secret, we do know Fred Hechinger (“The White Lotus”) will be starring alongside Wolfhard and Bryk.

“I am so excited to be co-directing my first feature film,” Wolfhard said . “I get the chance to work with an incredible cast and crew, and to work with a company like 30West and Aggregate is a real dream.”

Wolfhard made his directorial debut with the first short film “Night Shifts” in 2020. Which received the Silver Audience Award for best Canadian short at the Fantasia Film Festival. This will be a directorial and writing debut for Bryk. The duo will be starting principal photography on “Hell of a Summer”” this month in Ontario, Canada.

Hechinger, Jason Bateman, and Michael Costigan of Aggregate Films, and Parts and Labor’s Jay Van Hoy will produce. 30West is financing “Hell of a Summer,” as well as executive producing and co-representing the worldwide rights in partnership with CAA Media Finance.

Bryk has primarily been an actor and producer best known for his roles as Kyle in 2022’s “When You Finish Saving the World” and Zahk in 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” Both films also starred Wolfhard as Ziggy and Trevor, respectively. Bryk was also in “Night Shifts,” so I think it’s safe to say the two work well together.

Wolfhard’s career has certainly taken off he is probably still best known for playing Mike Wheeler on Netflix’s hit show “Stranger Things.” He has also portrayed young Richie Tozier in “It” and “It Chapter Two,” adaptations of Stephen King‘s iconic novel. So, it’s fitting his first feature-length film would also be horror.

Hechinger played Quinn Mossbacher in the HBO series “The White Lotus.” He also played Seth Warshavsky in Hulu’s “Pam & Tommy.”

We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
