How Ripple/XRP Made The International Transactions So Fast?

Ripple is a network that allows money transfers internationally between financial institutions like banks. It is a network system that generates its native cryptocurrency XRP to transfer fiat currency or other Crowdfunding from one user to another. Banks use this network for cross-border transactions.

    Role of Ripple network:

In the traditional banking system, the transactions almost take 3 to 4 business days to send money internationally and you need to pay a huge transaction fee for the same. Ripple Lab, which is originally the name of the company, was created to serve banking institutions to quickly send money at a cheaper price.

The first product of Ripple Lab was Ripple Net which is now known as xCurrent. xCurrent is a decentralized network that forms a network of unique nodes and makes transactions easier, faster, and cheaper. More than 50 banks including American Express are using this network for their international money transfers.

The latest product of Ripple lab is a ripple that was released in 2012. It is a faster working network and it has a crypto known as XRP.

    How does Ripple work?

The ripple network is based on Blockchain technology like other cryptocurrencies. However, its work process is different. Ripple provides user-to-user transfers but the Blockchain technology in ripple is not completely decentralized.

Unlike other cryptocurrencies that use PoW and PoS methods to verify transactions, Ripple uses a method known as Unique Node List. The method is somehow centralized as all the transactional data should be verified when a transaction occurs. Ripple Lab software can be downloaded and used by the people, and you can also buy bitcoin and other crypto currencies with XRP.

The selection of verifying transactions is done by analyzing the participants who seem to be least likely to commit fraud. In the process, the different validators update their ledgers every 3 to 5 seconds and try to match them with one another. But, if a ledger doesn’t match, they stop validating it again because a mismatched ledger seems to be an unsecure transaction. Hence, the Blockchain remains secure and the transactions are getting verified.

    Advantages of Ripple:

The ripple network was created for the reason to increase transaction speed. So, it indeed has some advantages.

    1. Fast transactions: Transactions through the ripple network take only 4 to 5 seconds which is very less than traditional banking systems. It is also faster than the most famous cryptocurrency bitcoin which takes almost 10 minutes for cross-border transactions.
    2. Low fees: The transaction cost is also very low. A transaction charges only 0.00001 XRP which is similar to around $0.0002.
    3. Versatility: The ripple network allows transactions of fiat currency as well as for cryptocurrencies. So, the use of the network is versatile.  You can use your fiat currency to buy XRP and you can use your XRP to buy other crypto currencies.

    Disadvantages of Ripple:

The only major disadvantage of a ripple network is it has a kind of centralized validation process. The main reason for the creation of cryptocurrencies is to provide a decentralized system and that’s what makes them famous. The decentralization provides complete control for the customers over their money. But,the Ripple network somewhere forms a centralized structure due to its validation of transactions. A default list of people works for the validation. Now, the network ensures security but, when the validation process completely depends on a set number of people or a group there is always a chance of fraud.

    Investment in Ripple:

Investment in Ripple actually means investing in the cryptocurrency XRP. XRP is considered a good investment nowadays. You can also explore Chinese cryptocurrency digital Yuan by logging on this software. China is working actively in crypto domain and Blockchain, hence, investing in digital currency. The current price of XRP is $0.39 as of 7th July 2022. It is expected to become $2 soon in 2022 and $3 in 2023 and can reach $4.5 in 2025. So, XRP can be a profitable investment if you invest in it now.

    Conclusion:

Overall, the ripple network performs a great role in making international transactions flawless and super-fast. However, the network must upgrade continuously to make its centralized validation process safe. Lots of banks are using this network to transfer money cross-border for millions of people. So, it is always better to apply more security on the network.
