NASA is officially (publicly) putting together a team that will research Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, aka UAPs. They are going to attempt to discern whether a UAP is from natural occurrences, or if they stem from ‘other’ sources.

The study team will be lead by astrophysicist David Spergel under NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. The mission; to figure out what the best way to capture and collect data from a UAP. This information could be useful in the future if some are identify as technological sightings.

“NASA can use that data to move the scientific understanding of UAPs forward,” according to NASA. The study will be available to the public Thomas Zurbuchen, the Associate Administrator for Science at NASA, assures. This will not be a part of the Department of Defense’s Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force.

While there is still much skepticism about whether or not aliens exist, or if they are responsible for the documented UAPs we know of. It’s still a possibility. NASA will be looking into all possibilities to keep in line with their mission of keeping airspaces safe.

UAPs are separate from UFOs, or Unidentified Flying Objects. NASA studies those as well. But with the addition of UAPs, will be able to extract more information. The science of space is broad, and this will help bring them closer to their goal of understanding life outside of Earth.

And of course, help in searching for habitable exoplanets.

    We want to believe.
