Netflix Made ‘Short-A** Movies’ Section Pete Davidson Suggested

On last week’s “Saturday Night Live,” Pete Davidson, Chris Redd, Dirt Nasty, and Gunna rapped about wanting a ‘Short-Ass Movie.’ Netflix responded by making a short-ass movies section. It is made up of only movies that are 90 minutes or less.

On April 4th, “SNL” tweeted a video of the sketch. The Netflix Is A Joke Twitter account responded with “good idea,” and included a link to the short-ass movies section.

The 90 minute cap is even shorter than the requested “like, at most, an hour-forty.” The sketch goes on to bemoan films with long runtimes “because I’m a simple man with no attention span.” It jokes about how “Heat” (2 hours 50 minutes) put Davidson’s friends to sleep, except “the weird guy who picked the movie.”

The song even offers suggestions for short ass movies. The titles and their run times are as follows:

    • Driving Miss Daisy, 1 hour 39 minutes
    • The Lion King, 1 hour 29 minutes
    • Bad Moms, 1 hour 40 minutes
    • Austin Powers, 1 hour 27 minutes
    • Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, 1 hours 35 minutes
    • Austin Powers in Goldmember, 1 hour 38 minutes
    • Liar Liar, 1 hour 27 minutes
    • The Evil Dead, 1 hour 25 minutes
    • Punch Drunk Love, 1 hours 35 minutes
    • Eraserhead, 1 hour 29 minutes
    • Bambi, 1 hour 10 minutes
    • Encino Man, 1 hour 28 minutes
    • Good Time, 1h 41m
    • Ernest Goes to Camp, 1 hour 32 minutes
    • Ernest Saves Christmas, 1 hour 35 minutes
    • Ernest Goes to Jail, 1 hour 21 minutes
    • Ernest Scared Stupid, 1 hour 32 Minutes
    • Ernest Goes to School, 89 minutes
    • Slam Dunk Ernest, 1 hour 33 minutes
    • Ernest in The Army, 1 hour 30 minutes
    • Ernest Goes to Africa, 1 hour 30 minutes
    • The 3 minute shorts before every Pixar movie are called a “thing of beauty”

Of course, Dirt Nasty calls Davidson out when he asks about “The King of Staten Island.” Davidson stammers “Oh, it was, uh … two hours and 17 minutes. But we needed all those minutes,” he insists.

With longer runtimes becoming a bigger complaint among audiences, let’s hope Netflix keeps this section as a constant. You can watch the full video of the sketch here. And peruse Netflix’s short-ass movie selection here.
