Sony’s “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” Moves YET AGAIN, But Now It’s Earlier?!

If you thought the ever-moving movie release slate was done with adjustments, you’d be WRONG. Announced this morning, Sony’s upcoming “Venom” sequel has changed dates yet again. This time however, it’s a move forward rather than a delay.

According to the official “Venom: Let There Be Carnage“ social medias, the film will NOW be hitting theaters on October 1st, rather than the 15th.

Save the date. 🗓 #Venom: Let There Be #Carnage is exclusively in movie theaters on OCTOBER 1.

🍿 Experience it in 3D, premium large formats, and IMAX.

This could be due to the theatrical release-only success of Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings,” which is seeing the highest Labor Day opening ever at around $90 million. Seriously, “Shang-Chi” has shattered the previous record, which was held by Rob Zombie‘s “Halloween” in 2007 at about $30 million.

The move is a smart one, as it pulls the Tom Hardy flick from being so close to Legendary’s “Dune.” That flick just had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, and has been dominating film Twitter chatter ever since.

With the Delta Variant of Covid showing no sign of abating anytime soon, this will probably not be the last release date shift we see.

We’ll do our best to keep you updated on news as it comes.

“Venom: Let There Be Carnage” will hit theaters exclusively on October 1st, 2021. Fandango’s own Erik Davis says tickets go on sale this coming week.

Also, tickets for #VenomLetThereBeCarnage will go on sale this Wednesday at @Fandango. The VENOM sequel will screen in 3D and premium large formats, and it will take over all IMAX screens. New date: 10/1 pic.twitter.com/EDBscjELzc

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
