Actor Kevin Bacon (Family Movie) is diving back into the world of the macabre. He will be starring in the horror thriller Summoner from Amazon MGM. The upcoming film will also be the directorial debut of Jeremy Slater (Mortal Kombat II), from a script he penned.

Summoner reportedly tells the story of an exorcist named Jefferson Haddock (Bacon). He is called to an isolated witness protection property to deal with a supposed demon. In the process, he accidentally unleashes a force that threatens to end him and everything around him.
The feature is set to start shooting this fall. It is produced by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Russell Ackerman via their Nocturna banner. Dan Kagan will executive produce.
Bacon has just jumped off the horror comedy Family Movie that he made with his wife, Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer), and their children, Travis (Keep Coming Back), and Sosie Bacon (Smile). And that was after starring in Amazon Prime’s horror action film The Bondsman. Which, of course, came after doing MaXXXine and The Toxic Avenger. We haven’t seen Bacon with this kind of taste for the genre since the 1980s/90s, and we are here for it.
There is currently no set release window for Summoner, just yet. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the film as it develops.
