If you’ve had fast food, you already know it isn’t the best quality. But has it ever gone so far as to make you violently ill? Texas woman Yvette Hinds is suing McDonald’s over a Sausage McMuffin with Egg she says was “wholly unfit for human consumption,” according to the filing.

On May 25th, 2023, Hinds bought the breakfast sandwich at McDonald’s restaurant #18884, at 51st Street and Broadway in Manhattan. After consuming the sandwich, she became “violently ill and nauseated,” according to her complaint. Up to and including suffering “severe pains and distress throughout her body.”
On May 26, she filed a civil complaint in the Manhattan Supreme Court. “Said food was not fit for consumption as food for humans, and was not fit to be eaten, but was unwholesome, injurious and dangerous to be used as food in that it contained injurious substances, contaminants, poisons, toxins, parasites, bacteria, germs and/or organisms,” the lawsuit reads.
As a result, she “suffered and still suffers intense and severe pain in her entire body.” To correct this illness Hinds has had to “undergo several operations, procedures and treatments in attempting to be cured of said sickness, illness, injuries and infections, and her physical, nervous and mental systems were seriously and permanently injured by such contaminated food, and plaintiff was and will continue to be unableto perform her customary duties in and about her household and was and will continue to berendered unable to perform work as she was accustomed to do.”
Hinds’ attorney Mark Shirian has declined to comment further about her injuries at this time. She is seeking damages against the McDonald’s Corporation, to be determined at trial. Plus attorneys’ fees and court costs.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about this situation as it develops.
