Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth Sequel Gets Thanksgiving IMAX Release

The Adventures of Cliff Booth, the unofficial title for the sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, will debut in Imax this Thanksgiving. Netflix has confirmed the film will get an exclusive two-week run on Imax screens starting November 25. Afterwards, it will then land on the streamer on December 23.

David Fincher directs the movie from a script by Quentin Tarantino, continuing Brad Pitt‘s Oscar-winning Once Upon a Time in Hollywood stuntman character. Though the film has been referred to as The Adventures of Cliff Booth, it does not yet have an official title.

The film takes the spot of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, from Greta Gerwig, which recently moved from Thanksgiving to February 2027. When Narnia does arrive, it will get a traditional theatrical run with a full 49-day window, marking a first for Netflix.

Plot details have been kept under wraps, although the sequel will take place in 1977 in “a very different Hollywood.” Pitt will reprise his role as Cliff Booth, the longtime stunt double of Rick Dalton. Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, and others will also star.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth originated from Tarantino’s scrapped script for what would have been his tenth and final movie. Pitt was very interested in the character and asked Tarantino if someone else could take the helm. The director said it would depend on who he had in mind. Enter Fincher, who quickly earned Tarantino’s blessing.

Pitt won an Oscar for playing the character in Tarantino’s 2019 pic Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. A film which also starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie.

It makes sense for Cliff Booth to jump into Narnia‘s old Imax slot, considering that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood made almost $400 million at the worldwide box office in 2019 for Sony. Pitt’s last movie, F1, also grossed over $630 million for Warner Bros. and Apple Original Films.

AMC, which until recently had refused to schedule Netflix movies, will be among the major cinema chains playing Cliff Booth.

The existence of a sequel was a shock when first announced on April Fool’s Day in 2025. Not to mention the fact that it was going to be directed by Fincher and made at Netflix. It was not a hoax.
