“South Park” Season 29 Premieres This September on Comedy Central

South Park is back this fall, and the premiere date is finally set. Season 29 will premiere on Comedy Central on September 16 at 10 p.m. The episodes will also stream the next day on Paramount+ in the U.S., Canada and Australia.

The premiere date was officially announced by Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone during their appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on May 19. It was announced in true South Park fashion, only this time in just 10 seconds instead of 45 seconds.

The promo opens with Cartman sitting on a toilet and saying “Hang on, hang on” before the date is presented. The new episodes will first be released on September 30, October 14, October 28, November 11 and November 25. Putting the season smack in the middle of midterm election season.

They aren’t afraid to talk politics during the announcement.

    “We’re just very down-the-middle guys,”

“Any extremists of any kind we make fun of. We did it for years with the woke thing. That was hilarious to us. And this is hilarious to us.”

    Parker said

Stone acknowledged the duo would prefer a creative break from politics. “You don’t want to do this political stuff. We don’t want to do it either,” he said. “We would rather not.” Parker remained pragmatic, adding: “Our show will be a lot longer than theirs, so we just got to do this for now.”

Parker also opened up about the show’s process during the Kimmel sit-down.

“We still do everything ourselves the way that we did,”

“When we’re doing a new season, it’s like we’re the band going in to make another album. We don’t know what’s going to come out. And after, like, 30 years, a lot of the same people that we’ve done the show with are still there doing it with us. We should have, two years in, hired writers and collected a check, but we still have to go in.”

    Parker said

The 27th season shattered viewership records and was the most-watched season of the show six years in a row. The 18-49 rating was the top-rated show on cable in 2025. This was the number one show that season, consumed with scathing satirical commentary on high-ranking government officials and real-life headlines.

The show, developed by Parker and Stone, has aired more than 330 episodes since premiering in 1997. It has received five Emmys for outstanding animated program and 18 nominations. The show will turn 30 in 2027.
