You know what those stripped-down found footage Paranormal Activity films need? The theatrics of the stage! The Oliver-nominated Paranormal Activity – A New Story Live on Broadway will soon hit New York for a limited time only.

Adapted from the now legendary horror franchise, this production will haunt the stage for a 20-week run.

This production is written by Levi Holloway (Grey House) and directed by Felix Barrett (Sleep No More). It tells an original story, rather than adapting characters from previous films. It tells the story of Jame and Lou, who move from Chicago to London, in an effort to escape their past. Only to find out that sometimes places aren’t haunted, but the people are.

While Broadway is certainly an achievement, the play has already had sold-out runs in London, Chicago, Los Angeles, D.C., and San Francisco. But the New York run does have Blumhouse founder/CEO and Paranormal Activity  producer Jason Blum coming on as a producer

“New York is my home away from home. I fell in love with the city when making Sleep No More fifteen years ago, and always marveled at the way audiences engaged with the show,” Barrett said in a statement. “Having seen the incredible responses to Paranormal as it has toured the U.S., I’m beyond excited that it will be coming to Broadway and cannot wait to see how New Yorkers react!”

“That Paranormal Activity has earned the chance to trouble the sleep of Broadway audiences, that they’ll be immersed in the waking nightmare we’ve had the privilege to make, is the stuff of dreams. I offer it’s unlike anything else on the American stage right now; a work of horror, heart and absolute mischief borne from one of the most profound collaborations of my career,” Holloway adds.

Previews for Paranormal Activity – A New Story Live on Broadway will begin on August 14th. Opening night is slated for September 15th at the August Wilson Theatre. You can purchase tickets for the limited run here. An 8th film is currently in the works with Ian Tuason (Undertone) directing. It has an expected release date of May 21, 2027.
