Terrifier 4 gets a new holiday. Writer-director Damien Leone said the next Art the Clown sequel takes place “around New Year’s Eve,” giving the film a new seasonal setting.
The actor-director used his social media account to confirm the film takes place “around New Year’s Eve.” The use of “around” allows for the possibility that the story could take place over multiple days.
“No space. No Easter bunny. Art’s bringing in the New Year!”
Leone wrote on Instagram
The new setting follows the franchise’s tradition of moving from one holiday to another. The first two Terrifier films take place over Halloween, and then Terrifier 3 bumps things into the Christmas season. The third film featured David Howard Thornton’s Art in a Santa suit delivering a brutally bloody killing spree.
New Year’s Eve horror isn’t an overly saturated subgenre.
This could give director Leone and his villain a chance. They may create something truly classic. This would use the holiday’s well-loved tropes.

There’s another big reveal fans can be excited about. Leone previously confirmed the upcoming script will “the most epic, horrifying, thrilling, emotional and satisfying conclusion to the Terrifier saga.” Art’s backstory will be revealed in the film. This occurs in the first 15 minutes.
Thornton himself, Lauren LaVera as Sienna Shaw, and Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria Heyes are reportedly all expected to return for the fourth film.
According to Leone, the script is almost done. He said he expects to begin pre-production in the spring. A fan asked him if the film was on track for 2026 or 2027, and he answered on camera to say 2027.
There has also been a hint that Terrifier 4 is the last one. Terrifier 3 was number one at the box office in 2024, and set a record as the highest-grossing unrated film ever. Leone has a lot to work up against.
And with New Year’s Eve only a week after Christmas, the new film could, in fact, pick up almost where Terrifier 3 ended. Whether it does or jumps forward in time, for now, is unknown.
