“Daredevil: Born Again” Season 3 with Kingpin’s New Look

New photos from the set of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 reveal Vincent D’Onofrio‘s return as Wilson Fisk. The Kingpin of Crime is sporting a surprising new look. The images hit the internet fast and they tell a story all on their own.

D’Onofrio was spotted filming Season 3 in New York City. He was sporting a thick white beard and a casual shirt along with a long winter jacket and a beanie. This marks the first time in D’Onofrio’s 11-year MCU tenure that his version of Fisk has worn facial hair. It’s a jarring shift for a character defined by sharp suits and sharp power moves.

These photos suggest his life trajectory has taken a drastic turn. His complete switch-up in appearance indicates he has transitioned into a low-profile era. Probably trying to stay under the radar rather than in the spotlight.

The context behind the look matters too. In the closing moments of the most recent episode, the Man Without Fear defeated Mayor Wilson Fisk in combat. However, unable to arrest or kill the villain, Daredevil was sent straight back to square one. It does seem safe to say the Kingpin won’t end up behind bars and that he won’t die either.

Background details in the pictures hint at new political developments. These include campaign posters for Sheila Rivera (Zabryna Guevara). Implying a massive shift in New York’s government. Vanessa‘s death may be what sets Fisk off permanently. He may let go of all pretense of being “Mayor Wilson Fisk.” This brings the Kingpin to the forefront for good.

D’Onofrio has been hinting at this shift for a while

Speaking with GamesRadar+, he said, “We pick up from what [those] events have done to him in the third season. You get to meet him and what he’s become after that.” Separately, when asked about Vanessa’s death affecting the character, D’Onofrio told, “A lot of that is going to be answered in Season 3, which we’re about to start shooting. But I think it damages him in a deep, deep way. And I think that it’s going to take some doing to shock himself out of that somehow.”

Fisk isn’t the only one looking rough. A photo from Luke Cage actor Mike Colter appears to show Daredevil in an orange prison jumpsuit. He is also rocking a beard. Both men, it seems, are hitting rock bottom before the next chapter begins.

Season 3 will also reunite the Defenders for the first time since 2017. Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Colter (Luke Cage), and Finn Jones (Iron Fist) are all expected to have roles.

Charlie Cox summed up the shift well. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, he shared that Born Again Season 3 “feels like [the show has] shed the skin of the Mayor Fisk era” and is “a new book, a new dawn a little bit.” and is “a new book, a new dawn a little bit.”

Season 3 was confirmed in September 2025. Filming is taking place between March and July 2026.

Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in March 2027.
