Prime Video has released the first trailer for the Good Omens finale. The 90-minute special is the final farewell of the series and debuts on May 13.

The millennia-long friendship between Aziraphale and Crowley has been fractured ever since Aziraphale accepted the offer to return to Heaven. Now, as the newly appointed Supreme Archangel, he’s tasked with overseeing the Second Coming. Meanwhile, a heartbroken Crowley finds himself at rock bottom, wandering the streets of Soho.

In the end, the two reunite and must face each other and their relationship, patch up old rifts, and rekindle their friendship. All while dealing with everything from London thugs to infernal beings, to determine if it’s worth saving their friendship and the world.

    The End of Good Omens

The road to this finale has been anything but smooth. Production was suspended in September 2024 after multiple women accused co-creator Neil Gaiman of sexual assault. Gaiman offered to step back, and by October 2024, the series was reduced from a six-episode order to a single 90-minute episode. Although Gaiman is credited with writing the finale, he no longer serves as showrunner or executive producer. Gaiman has denied the allegations.

For a while, it wasn’t even clear whether the show would finish at all. In an earlier interview with The Times, series star Michael Sheen said, “I really don’t know what’s going to happen with it. We were both relieved we finished the story, but that’s within this really difficult, complicated, disturbing context. I hope people get to see it, but that, to a large extent, is out of our hands.”

Co-star David Tennant was more optimistic. On the interview show The Assembly, he said, “We’re doing Good Omens again. We’re going back to do the final… There’s been a slight rejig with the personnel. But we still get to tell that story, which I think it would have been very difficult to leave it on a cliffhanger. So I’m glad that’s been worked out.”

Returning alongside Sheen and Tennant are Doon Mackichan as Michael, Gloria Obianyo as Uriel, Liz Carr as Saraqael, Paul Chahidi as Sandalphon, Quelin Sepulveda as Muriel, and Derek Jacobi as The Metatron. Bilal Hasna joins the cast as Jesus. The finale is directed by Rachel Talalay, known for her work on Doctor Who.

The series finale will adapt the storyline Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett had planned for a Good Omens sequel novel. Fans across more than 240 countries will be able to watch it when it premieres on May 13.
