Roblox Survival Horror Game ’99 Nights in the Forest’ Movie in the Works

20th Century Studios which is owned by Disney is eyeing Roblox’s hit game 99 Nights in the Forest for a feature film. First reported by The Hollywood Reporter it would be the first game adaptation from the platform by 20th Century Studios but at least the 4th Roblox game that Hollywood is trying to adapt. 99 Nights in the Forest is created by the Roblox development group Grandma’s Favourite Games, led by developer Cracky4 (Alec Kieft)

In March of 2025 the game was released on Roblox. In my house it’s known that the kids are not supposed to play the game because of the scary deer that drags campers away. But that doesn’t stop the YouTube algorithm from showing it to them because that game is so popular now there are hundreds of videos about it.

What is 99 Nights in the Forest?

If you haven’t played the game the premise is quite simple. You build a camp with friends while something is watching you from the forest. It’s supposed to be kid friendly but it gives me the heeby jeebys. It’s along the same lines of the scary elements found in Five Night’s at Freddy’s. Only this game is set in a more open space.

What’s most interesting about this acquisition is that the game is barely even a year old. Yet and they’re scooping it up to make a film. This just tells you how influential Roblox is as a platform and how much companies are watching it. I would hazard a guess that one of the reps for 20th Century Studios has a kid into survival horror. And that they’re trying to find the new hot thing.

Another film that we know about that’s in the works is Piggy. This game film has a little more clout since it’s going to be directed by Tim Burton. We’ll see who they get to work on 99 Nights in the Forest. Probably not Tim Burton but hopefully someone who’s familiar with the eerie themes of the game itself.

Stay tuned, we’ll have more information for you as things drop as far as casting and production.
