When fans like something or someone it’s hard for them to accept that stars have personal lives that don’t include them. This goes for some fans of Percy Jackson, a series on Disney+ based on Rick Riordan’s book. The lead Walker Scobell who is 17-years-old is the crush of many since he plays a character that everyone likes. Unfortunately for him he’s now decided that it’s unsafe to go to his own prom after his dates received multiple death threats online.
The 17-year-old actor took to Instagram to ask his online admirers to stop harassing his real-life classmates.
“Just to let everyone know, I will not be attending prom,” Scobell wrote. “Please stop sending death threats to EVERY teenage girl who could remotely be associated with me based on their proximity to where I live. It’s not fair to them or to their families. Maybe also just stop sending death threats in general. That’s just not cool. Kinda weird I have to say this.”
If we know anything it’s that actors deserve to live their lives in peace like anyone else. It’s really a shame that Scobell has to abstain from prom just because some fans can’t keep themselves in line. With online bullying being one of the worst types because you never know if there is substance behind the threat, it’s safer for him to just stay home. Hopefully with fans knowing this prom will be a safe place for his classmates and they’ll be able to enjoy themselves. It just sucks that he can’t be a part of it. I guess bottom line is that fans need to do better.
