Wow episode 8 of Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans was absolutely insane! Now that we’re in the middle of craziness it’s kind of up in the air over who will be voted off. What’s crazy to me about this season is that they’re consistently finding ways to vote off more than one person. Seriously, is the show on some sort of time crunch?
DON’T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE EPISODE UNLESS YOU WANT SPOILERS

Episode Recap
Episode 8 of Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, titled “Double the Fun, Double the Demise,” aired April 15th. I’m a little slow to cover the news but that just means that I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’m going to say. This episode was unusual from start to finish. Coach played a very flamboyant game last episode and put a huge target on his back. He took credit how the vote went and was full of ego. It was very off-putting not only to viewers but to those on the island.
We saw a few people murmuring his name mainly including Chrissy Hofbeck(RIP), Johnathan Young and Stephanie Kendrick. They were all convinced that they could get Coach out and that would have been the easy plan if it weren’t for the giant twist coming. We saw that Tiffany was big mad her name was voted on last episode. Ozzy told Tiff that he voted for her and then told her he wanted to work with her. She seemed to accept that idea. Then, a boat took Cirie after her shot in the dark was chosen to Exile Island. But not before she could watch the challenge get explained to the other castaways.
The Challenge and the Twist
The challenge was that the players had to split into pairs. Chosen by the players themselves not knowing what was to come. The pairings were as follows:
- Jonathan & Christian
- Chrissy & Coach
- Ozzy & Stephenie
- Joe & Tiffany
- Emily & Rizo
- Aubry & Devens
Each team had to rip through a physical portion of the challenge as fast as they could throwing, balancing a basketball sized.. ball. Then they were tasked with building a bridge with blocks that had holes in them getting them to work together verbally to help build the bridge with the correct pieces. Only one piece could be placed at a time so it was a lot of running back and forth.
After they got through the bridge portion each team had to guide 2 balls through a maze and secure them into 2 holes at the base of the maze. The winning team was Tiffany and Joe who won immunity and spaghetti, wine, juice and tiramisu.

Meanwhile on Exile Island
As Cirie landed on the beach the first noticeable thing was that it was COVERED with coconuts. Hundreds of them. She was then presented with a sort of advantage should she complete the task. She could either stay the night on the island OR find the one coconut with the phoenix on it and go back to camp, securing her vote in the upcoming tribal. This was an important choice because she could either abandon her alliance or find the coconut and help them out. She chose the latter. After getting emotional about how hard it was, because it was incredibly daunting with all the scattered coconuts, she found the thing! She then made her way back to the island and was able to put her two cents into the vote.

The Aftermath
It’s funny because you could see Chrissy‘s shock when Jeff announced how the vote would go that night. Since she paired up with Coach and then duo didn’t win immunity, she knew she was cooked. Especially with the way he was gloating so hard about how HE influenced the vote the tribal prior.
There was some question about who might go. They could have either voted out some middle players, or they could vote out the BIG BAD Coach, and unfortunately that meant Chrissy was going with him. Thanks to Cirie the middle players were safe for another day and it was seemingly set in stone that Coach and Chrissy were going home.
As much as Chrissy tried to plead her case to stay, it was really hard because at this point NO one likes Coach.
Tribal Council
Rick Devens executed a major theatrical play by retrieving the fake immunity idol he and Christian had previously planted in the tribal fire pit. This “live tribal” moment caused confusion and solidified the vote switch away from him and Aubry. It also didn’t give voters a reason not to vote out Coach and Chrissy at that point.
Coach played his Shot in the Dark advantage, but was marked NOT SAFE.
The Result
Coach and Chrissy were voted out in an 11-1-1 tally and became the 9th and 10th person of the 11 person jury, joining Dee Valladares on the bench.

So Who Will Go Next?
Let’s start with who I think will make it to the end. I think that it may be Cirie, Ozzy and Rizo. All three of them seem securely set as the three who are influencing the votes the most, and they’re all low profile enough to sqeak through. Our best guess is that it won’t be Devens because now everyone thinks he has an idol. BUT that could also mean they want to flush it out. Aubry or Tiffany is my guess for who goes next if they don’t win immunity. Aubry who’s had her name on the chopping block before. And Tiffany because why not? Ozzy would only provide so much protection and he could be left out of the vote like he was previously.
Christian is probably going to stay because now he and Devens are thick as thieves. But that could also put a target on Christian because if he flips and talks about how Devens has a fake idol that would be the end of Devens. In fact, if he does that it will 100% be Devens that goes home.
There’s a lot that could happen.
