After Scream 7 raked in over $200 million at the global box office, making it the first in the franchise to hit that milestone. Spyglass has officially greenlit Scream 8.
Sisters Lilla and Nora Zuckerman are already attached to write the script. The duo worked as showrunners on Peacock’s Poker Face, and have written for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Suits, Fringe, and Prodigal Son. They also penned the recently scrapped series Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale.

Creator Kevin Williamson made his directorial debut for the franchise with Scream 7. But he has already said he will not return to direct the next installment.
“It’s nice to be part of the Scream family,” Williamson previously said. “That doesn’t mean I always have to be front and center. I don’t always have to write or direct. Other people can take the reins.”
The last installment had the focus of the franchise shift back to the final girl that started it all, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell). This time the omnipresent Ghostface killer(s) show up in a new town where Sideny has started over with her husband (Joel McHale). Up until now living a life once again devoid of knife wielding maniacs.
However, this time they have their sights set on her daughter Tatum (Isabel May), named for her slain best friend (Rose McGowan) in the first film.
Anna Camp also stars alongside returning cast members Courteney Cox and Matthew Lillard.
At this time, it’s unknown what plotline Scream 8 might follow. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as it develops.
