“Assassin’s Creed” Series Gets Setting, Time Period, Cast Members

Netflix has been hard at work adapting Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed into a live-action series. We’ve got several exciting updates about its production since Netflix just confirmed its setting, time period, and new cast members.

The Assassin’s Creed video games cover events spanning ancient history to the early 20th Century. So writers really had their pick of the litter in terms of time period. The streamer has just announced that the live-action adaptation will be set in ancient Rome, specifically, 64 CE.

Despite being based on Ubisoft’s video game franchise, this series will tell an entirely new story. Considering the year, it’s more than likely going to be centered around the Great Fire of Rome, during the reign of Emperor Nero.

The latest additions to the cast include Sandra Guldberg-Kampp (Foundation), Youssef Kerkour (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), Mirren Mack (Hedda), and Louis McCartney (Stranger Things: The First Shadow).

They will join the previously announced Lola Petticrew, Toby Wallace, Zachary Hart, Laura Marcus, Tanzyn Crawford, Nabhann Rizwan, Claes Bang, Noomi Rapace, Ramzy Bedia, Sean Harris, and Corrado Invernizzi.

Roberto Patino and David Wiener are attached as showrunners. Patino, Wiener, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, Genevieve Jones, and Matt O’Toole.

Assassin’s Creed is currently in production at Cinecittà Studios. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the series as they develop.
