We’ve got some exciting casting news about the upcoming season of HBO’s hit series The Last of Us. Jason Ritter (Matlock) and Patrick Wilson (Watchmen) will be joining the cast!
Ariela Barer (How to Blow Up a Pipeline), Tati Gabrielle (You), and Spencer Lord (Heartland) will also be returning.

Yes, Ritter had an uncredited role as a clicker in season 1, but this time he is a full-on character. He’ll be playing Hanley, a soldier. Wilson has been cast for the role of Jerry, Abby’s (Kaitlyn Dever) father.
Based on the Naughty Dog video game series of the same name, The Last of Us takes place 20 years after the fall of modern civilization. After a fungus turns much of humanity into crazed, zombie-like creatures.
The story centers around Joel (Pedro Pascal), a world-weary survivor who is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of a quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey. The pair has to traverse the dangerous remains of the US while learning to depend on each other for survival.
Season 2 takes place 5 years after the events of the first season. There is no word on what season 3 may entail, but there are rumblings about it being told from Abby’s perspective.
Ramsey, Isabela Merced, Gabriel Luna, and Jeffrey Wright will all be returning for season 3 of The Last of Us. They’ll be joined by previously announced new cast members Clea DuVall as a seraphite and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. as Manny. Lendeborg will be taking over the role previously played by Danny Ramirez.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about the upcoming season of The Last of Us as the project develops.
