Joining the current trend of music-centric biopics is the 80s hair metal band, Bon Jovi! That’s right, the Livin’ on a Prayer hit makers will be getting their own feature film courtesy of Universal Pictures.

Cody Brotter (Killing Satoshi) is writing the script for the currently untitled film.

No director or cast is attached to the project at this time. The key roles would be for founding band members like singerJon Bon Jovi, keyboardist David Bryan, and drummer Tico Torres. Alongside former guitarist Richie Sambora and the late bassist Alec John Such.

While it’s unclear what events may be depicted from Bon Jovi’s decades-long career. It’s believed the film will focus on the early years.

The movie will be produced by Kevin J. Walsh and Gotham Chopra of Religion of Sports. Chopra directed all 4 episodes of Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story for Hulu, with  Religion of Sports producing.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about Universal’s upcoming Bon Jovi biopic as the project develops.
