It looks like Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” is going out with a bang for its 4th and final season. It’s just been confirmed that Molly Ringwald (“One Night Only”) will be joining the cast!

Ringwald will play Van’s (played by Lauren Ambrose and Liv Hewson) mom, Vicky.

It’s being reported that Vicky is a recently recovered alcoholic trying to set things right while grappling with her past.

She joins that cast at a bit of an odd time, considering what happened to the adult version of Van at the end of last season. (We won’t be discussing that here due to spoilers, though.) However, Ringwald could also be playing Van’s mom in the younger timeline, since which version of the character isn’t clear at this time.

“Yellowjackets” is created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson and tells the story of a high school soccer team. While on their way to a game, their plane goes down, and the team is among the few survivors of the crash. The show is set partially during the teen girl’s time surviving in the wilderness and partially in the present, with them as adults 25 years later.

Ringwald is just the latest addition to the series pension for casting stars of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Others include Ambrose, Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, and Hilary Swank.

“Yellowjackets” currently stars Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, and Courtney Eaton.

At this time, there is no set release window for “Yellowjackets” 4th and final season. We’ll keep you posted on updates as the project develops.
