In 2015, Arrowhead Game Studios’ “Helldivers” hit shelves and became a wild success with gamers. Justin Lin (“F9: The Fast Saga”) will be directing the upcoming film adaptation for PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures.
It’s just been confirmed that Jason Momoa (“The Wrecking Crew”) will star!
The film is based on the 2015 video game and its 2024 sequel, “Helldivers 2.” These games center around an elite unit of soldiers, called Helldivers, who have to defeat the alien creatures threatening to destroy the fictitious planet Super Earth.
Plot details for the film are under wraps at this time.
The initial script for “Helldivers” was written by Gary Dauberman (“IT”), which caught Lin’s attention. Lin will also be producing via his Perfect Storm Entertainment banner with Hutch Parker and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash.
“Helldivers” will hit theaters on November 10, 2027. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as it develops.
