    This just in-

Prime Video has announced more casting for their upcoming “God of War” live-action tv series. Callum Vinson (“Dead Ringers,” “Poker Face” will play Atreus, son of Kratos (Ryan Hurst, who actually voiced Thor in the games). He’ll be joined by Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Max Parker (“Boots”) as Heimdall. and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (“Severance”) as Thor. Teresa Palmer (“A Discovery of Witches“) will play Sif, shield maiden and wife of Thor. Alastair Duncan, who voiced Mimir in the games, will return to reprise the character in the show.

    “God of War”

“God of War” is based on the wildly popular PlayStation video game franchise of the same name. Steeped in ancient mythology, they follow Kratos and Atreus, a father and son, who go on a journey to spread the ashes of Faye, their wife/mother. During their quest, Kratos tries to show Atreus how to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach Kratos how to be a better human.

Ronald D. Moore (“Outlander”) is showrunner, executive producer, and writer. The writers room also includes Naren Shankar (“The Expanse,” “For All Mankind“), Matthew Graham (“Life on Mars,” “Electric Dreams“), Joe Menosky (“The Orville,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation“), Tania Lotia (“The Witcher,” “Invincible“), Marc Bernardin (“Star Trek: Picard,” “Eyes of Wakanda“), and Stephanie Shannon (“For All Mankind,” “Outlander“).

Executive producers for the show include Moore, Shankar, Graham, Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Menosky, Bernardin, Lotia, Ben McGinnis, and Jeff Ketcham are attached as co-executive producers. Emmy-winning director Frederick E.O. Toye (“Shōgun,” “The Boys”) will direct the first 2 episodes.

The live-action adaptation of “God of War” is currently in pre-production in Vancouver, with casting underway. It has already been greenlit for 2 seasons on Prime Video.  Obviously, this early into production, there is no expected release window.

We’ll keep you posted on updates as the project develops.
