Are you ready for some Tom Cruise (“Top Gun: Maverick”) style laughs? The upcoming comedy, “Digger,” starring Cruise and directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu (“The Revenant”), just got its first poster and teaser trailer. Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment have also slated the project for an early October 2026 release.

“Digger” is co-written by Iñárritu, Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, and Sabina Berman (“Macho”). Iñárritu, Giacobone, and Dinelaris are the same writing trio behind 2014’s “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).”

Plot details are still being kept under wraps. However, we do know that Cruise stars as Digger Rockwell. A fitting moniker considering he is carrying a shovel for the bulk of the 49-second teaser.

Warner Bros. describes the character as “the most powerful man in the world.” As he “embarks on a frantic mission to prove that he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.”

Cruise will star alongside Sandra Hüller (“Two to One”), John Goodman (“Smurfs”), Michael Stuhlbarg (“After the Hunt”), Jesse Plemons (“Bogonia”), Sophie Wilde (“Babygirl”), Riz Ahmed (“Hamlet”), and Emma D’Arcy (“House of the Dragon”).

“Digger” hits theaters on October 2nd. You can check out the first poster and teaser trailer below:
