Hollywood icon Jimmy Stewart will be the subject of the upcoming biopic “Jimmy.” Burns & Co. Entertainment has just released the first teaser trailer with KJ Apa (“Riverdale”) in the titular role. It is directed by Aaron Burns from a script by Justin Strawhand, having previously teamed up on “Birthright Outlaw.”

The story will mainly focus on Stewart’s life after he won an Oscar for best actor for “The Philadelphia Story.” After receiving the award, he chose to enlist in the military, becoming a combat pilot and commander in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
After flying 20 missions during World War II, Stewart returned home broken and defeated…right before he landed the role of George Bailey in 1946’s “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
“Jimmy Stewart was an American Hero,” Apa said. “He was among a certain breed of men who understood the true meaning of sacrifice by fighting for our freedom. He was also among the greatest actors of all time starring in over 80 movies and winning one Academy Award for best actor. His story is one of strength and purpose, love and honor, fame and war. His story is one that begs us to think of the greater good and to be willing to fight for it.”

Apa stars alongside Kara Killmer as Lady Julia, Neal McDonough as Stewart’s father Alexander, Max Casella as Frank Capra, Jason Alexander as Louis B. Mayer, Christopher McDonald as Lionel Barrymore, Sarah Drew as Hedda Hopper, Rob Riggle as Colonel Terrill, Julian Works as Second Lieutenant Martinez, and Jen Lilley as Gloria Stewart.
“Jimmy” will hit theaters on November 6th, 2026. You can check out the first teaser trailer below:
